2010 Business show - About the day
Business Link Kent joined the Sevenoaks & District Chamber of Commerce team and other business network groups such as Women in Business, to provide delegates with instant access to clear, simple, and trustworthy information and advice.
Subject experts were available to help businesses to comply with regulations and improve their performance. Information about new laws coming into force on 6th April may affect local businesses so this was a good opportunity to find out about them from the commercial law team on the Warners stand. In addition to the advice from their exhibition stand, there was a legal 'surgery' from 12 until 1pm in the Chamber of Commerce 'Business Village'.
The 'Business Village' featured different experts providing free advice throughout the day.
Whether your business is just starting up, already established, or looking to grow and develop, The Business Show was a focus for improving skills and knowledge in finance, taxation, marketing, communication, training, insurance and legislation.
One-to-one computer coaching sessions were on offer from Susan Storey Associates Ltd on an hourly basis to improve skills at basic, intermediate or advanced levels.
Demonstrations of website optimisation and social networking were shown by John Hubbard who was advising on behalf of Sevenoaks Chamber, providing practical suggestions which delegates can master themselves.
Finding and communicating with customers is a speciality for the marketing and communication experts. Useful tips from companies such as Acorn Communications were available for start-up and small business marketing. Communication experts Opus Network Services Ltd advised on cost effective telecommunications and data products for all sizes of company.
Complying with environmental legislation and trading internationally are areas which the Chamber of Commerce team can find the right advice for your needs. The network of experts and members in the region means there is always someone in your sector you can talk to.
Sevenoaks Job Club gave practical guidance on CV preparation, interview technique and presentation skills.
